In railway, metro, and light-rail projects, aviation connectors are used by design — not for appearance, but for reliability in harsh operating conditions.

• Vibration & shock resistance


Trains experience continuous vibration, track joints, and braking impact. Standard RJ45 connectors can loosen over time, causing unstable links.Aviation connectors use threaded or locking structures, meeting EN50155 vibration requirements.


• Harsh outdoor environments


Inter-car areas, bogies, and underfloor cabinets are exposed to water, dust, brake debris, and oil. Aviation connectors typically provide IP67–IP68 protection, preventing ingress and corrosion.


• High electromagnetic interference


Inverters, PWM controllers, and high-current busbars generate strong EMI. Metal-housed aviation connectors offer full shielding and reliable grounding.


• Long-term durability


Designed for rail use, aviation connectors support high tensile strength, 500–2000+ mating cycles, salt-fog resistance, and -40°C to +85°C operation.


For these reasons, aviation connectors are the default choice for EN50155 rail applications. Standard network connectors are usually suitable only for non-critical passenger-area devices. A small connector choice can have a big impact on long-term system stability.
