Hotel Network Upgrade Without Rewiring or Operational Disruption
2025/12/31 Blog

Many high-end hotels built 20–30 years ago were equipped with advanced ELV systems at the time. However, with today’s growing demand for HD video, IP-based services, and full WiFi coverage, these legacy systems are now reaching their limits.

Common Challenges in Hotel Renovation

1.Legacy systems based on analog or early digital architectures

2.No spare conduits or cable trays for new Ethernet or fiber

3.Hotels must remain in operation, making long construction periods unacceptable

4.High interior standards make rewiring both costly and disruptive

The real challenge is not the equipment itself, but how to upgrade without rewiring or interrupting daily hotel operations.

Upgrade Approach

1.Reuse existing cables (coaxial, 2-wire, telephone lines, and power cables), upgrading only the network devices and transmission layer.

2.By installing Ethernet Extenders at both ends of the existing cable, IP data (and power, if required) can be transmitted reliably — without adding new Ethernet.

Applicable Hotel Systems

This solution is suitable for multiple hotel systems, including:

• CCTV System

Upgrade analog cameras to IP cameras using existing coaxial cables.

• Hotel WiFi Coverage

Deploy wireless APs using existing corridor cabling, often combined with CCTV upgrades to avoid repeated construction.

• In-room TV / IPTV

Upgrade to IPTV by utilizing existing in-room cabling inside wall-mounted equipment boxes — no room renovation required.

• Voice System (PABX → VoIP)

Reuse existing telephone lines to migrate to IP-based voice systems and prepare for future smart services.
