Here’s a quick set of tips for a clean and reliable fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) installation:
1. Use One Continuous Fiber Cable
Minimize connectors — each joint adds time, cost, and signal loss.
Avoid crushing, excessive bending, or machine pulling during installation.
2. Indoor/Outdoor Routing
Use conduits or trays indoors and avoid sharp bends.
Outdoor connections should be fusion-spliced and placed in protective enclosures.
3. Prefer Fusion Splicing
Cold connectors are fast but have higher loss (0.3–0.5 dB).
Fusion splicing provides the best performance (≤0.1 dB), especially for high-speed projects.

4. Test Before Going Live
Use an optical power meter to confirm the loss is within acceptable range.
If not, inspect the splice points until resolved.
